Cricket Champs

Cricket has a culture of respect towards your team mates and the opposition. At a time when good values and behavior appear to be diminishing in society, cricket teaches children the importance of discipline and respect for authority, whilst having fun and experiencing enjoyment at the same time. The Cricket Champs program specialises in cricket education for children aged 3 – 8. We pride ourselves in knowing that our coaches, being excellent players themselves, realise that fun is a very important element and also have the social skills and love for children to help bring out the best in each player. The success of our Cricket Curriculum is in actual fact that through skilled participation completed through sound coaching principles, children secure a solid base from which to develop many other and more important aspects of their lives. Our mission is to teach cricket in such a way so as to ensure that each child who attends the program will attain all the skills necessary. Our focus is on the development of the entire child. We give your child an opportunity to experience success. This will, in turn, result in greater self confidence and lead to a more competent child. We provide a platform where your child can learn how to deal with competition and how to cope with both winning and losing.

These learning aspects highlight the impact of physical education and sport on the child’s social and moral development in addition to physical skills and abilities. “CRICKET COMPARED TO OTHER SPORT IS LIKE CHESS COMPARED TO SNAKES AND LADDERS.” This quote is a brilliant synopsis of the importance that practicing cricket holds for the sportsman. Everyone can play snakes and ladders, but to play chess you need extra skills and vision, which can be taught. Not only do cricketers learn about the sports principles of specific sports skills, they learn how to win and how to lose and they also learn about specific codes of conduct and the meaning of fair play. The forthcoming value of cricket as a sport will be included in the social interaction that players learn about. Since cricket is usually a time consuming sport, the players will learn strategic planning and better judgment and they will learn to have more patience and tolerance, but still experience the same joy as you do in any other sport. With CRICKET CHAMPS we intend to develop exactly these principles within each child, so that the next generation of cricket players at national level will set the tone in world sport.

We recognize that when coaching young children, it is important to teach physical skills in a social environment. Not only is the emotional, social and mental development of a child important, but also allowing them to become aware of social skills, values and norms whilst simultaneously developing their physical skills.
